Workshop - Territorial governance for food security

13 october
18.00 to 19.30
Venue:
S4

Description

[Association of Regions of France (ARF), UCLG Forum of Regions]

The workshop aims to review how to bring back territorial development at the heart of the food system evolution and also how to implement at the local level the SDG 2 on food security.
The food transition that regional leaders hope relies on two transformations highly correlated: the relocation of production and the food consumption as well as the development of a social, environmental and cultural responsibility of actors from the agro-food chain.
The complementarity between the urban and the rural can be achieved by considering the agricultural land as a creator of economic activities and jobs, but also as a factor of positive social and environmental externalities. This is one of the central elements that constitutes cities’ food policies and in the same line, the quality of life of their inhabitants.
