Mayor of Barcelona
Local and regional governments are on the front line when it comes to responding to any type of crisis, natural or man-made. As the sphere of government closest to the people, (...) we have both a legal and moral obligation to act. The Bogotá Summit will be a cross-cutting global meeting where the international community will be asked to include the local dimension and to support us to foster solidarity and peer-to-peer collaboration.
Ada Colau Ballano (Barcelona, 1974) is the very first woman ever elected Mayor in Barcelona. She has devoted part of the professional career to human rights research and defence, with a special view to the right to housing. She has developed her professional and political skills throughout the last twenty years, resulting from her academic studies, the work carried out in civil society organization and her participation in social movements.
