Director of the Human Rights & Peace Cooperation Office, Gwangju Metropolitan City
Holding a Bachelor’s degree in History of Asia by the University of Korea and a LL.M. in Human Rights Law by the University of Hong Kong, and being Juris Doctor by the Chonnam National University, Ms Soo-A Kim was Coordinator of the Gwangju’s programme of Citizen Solidarity (2001-2002), worked at the Hong Kong Asia Human Rights Commission (2003-2009) and held some positions at the Korea judiciary system. Since 2015, she is the Director of the Gwangju’s Metropolitan City’s Human Rights and Peace Cooperation Office. From this position, she has contributed to extend and strengthen the Human Rights Cities network, especially through the Co-Presidency of the UCLG Committee on Social Inclusion, Participatory Democracy and Human Rights and the yearly organization of the World Human Rights Cities Forum in Gwangju.
