Councillor of Gatineau, 2nd Vice President of Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM)
Sylvie Goneau has been an independent municipal councillor for the City of Gatineau, Quebec, since 2009. She has been a member of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) Board of Directors since 2014 and was elected Second Vice-President in 2016.
Councillor Goneau divides her time between a number of committees and commissions: she chairs the Gatineau Advisory Committee on Agriculture, sits on boards of directors, including Développement économique — CLD Gatineau, and is a member of a business women's network, Réseau des femmes d'affaires du Québec (REFAQ),.
An issue of particular interest to her is women's participation in municipal politics. She was a member of FCM's Standing Committee on Increasing Women's Participation in Local Government from 2012 to 2014, and chaired the committee for a term.
